Women Who Inspire Wednesday: Meghan Muñoz
Written by Program Coordinator, Chris Schnell
This week, we are honored to spotlight Meghan Muñoz, Senior Financial Advisor at Alaska Wealth Advisors.
Meghan’s journey reflects both ambition and dedication. She first discovered her passion for financial advising during an internship, but initially began her career in public accounting after earning her accounting degree and CPA license. In 2019, Meghan returned to Alaska Wealth Advisors full-time, where she now combines her accounting background and CPA expertise to provide clients with in-depth tax planning strategies. She thrives in helping individuals and families navigate complex financial goals while building lasting relationships rooted in trust and empowerment.
Born and raised in Alaska, Meghan holds deep pride for her home state. Whether she’s fishing on the Kenai, camping, cooking, or at the dog park with her chocolate lab Lina, she fully embraces the Alaskan lifestyle.
Her commitment to community extends beyond her career. Meghan served as Treasurer and Board Member for the Abused Women’s Aid in Crisis (AWAIC) shelter from 2019–2024, as well as a Board Member for the AWAIC Foundation, Inc. from 2020–2024. Today, she continues her service as a Board Member for the Alaska Society of CPAs (2023–present) and participates in their Financial Literacy Committee (2022–present), helping educate and inspire future leaders.
A significant source of inspiration in Meghan’s life has been her mother, who worked as a domestic violence and child abuse prosecutor. Through her career, Meghan’s mom made an important and meaningful impact in the lives of those she represented. Following in those footsteps, Meghan strives to create the same sense of empowerment and lasting change in the lives of her clients and community.
For Meghan, success has evolved from achievement to impact. Today, she measures it by the ways she inspires and educates others, supports clients through life’s transitions, invests in her team, and remains present with family, friends, and community.
Her advice to others is simple but powerful: work hard, be approachable and reliable, respect everyone, and push through discomfort. “When you feel imposter syndrome, do it anyway. Build strong relationships, encourage others, and don’t be afraid to advocate for yourself.” She also shares one of her favorite reminders from the movie We Bought a Zoo: “Sometimes all you need is 20 seconds of insane courage. Just literally twenty seconds of just embarrassing bravery and I promise you, something great will come of it.”
When it comes to her community, Meghan’s love runs deep: “I love that our community still feels small enough that we come together to help others in need – even people we’ve never met but still feel connected to. I love that we support small businesses. I love that the pride for our city and state is palpable. I am so proud to tell people where I am from.”
We celebrate Meghan for her ambition, her heart for service, and the way she inspires others through her dedication to clients, colleagues, and community.
