What Does Patriotism Mean to Me? Part II
As I get older, patriotism feels less like fireworks and more like reflection. As a Black woman in America, I’ve learned that loving this country means holding it accountable while still believing in its potential.
I see the challenges we’re facing the division, the injustice, the exhaustion. But I also see the people who show up, speak up, and lift each other up. That’s the America I celebrate.
My patriotism is rooted in community, in resilience, and in the belief that we can build something better together.
Happy 4th of July. May we keep pushing, keep hoping, and keep moving forward.
